Ahmedabad: The screening of the film Tum Mile, directed by Mahesh Bhatt, is likely to get stalled on Tuesday, as workers of the Mahagujarat Janata Party (MJP) are protesting screening of the film.

The stir triggered because Bhatt's son Rahul's name has emerged in the David Headley issue. The party recently ransacked a theatre in Rajkot and plans to protest the movie in all single screen and multiplex theatres across the state, including Ahmedabad.

The theater owners, however, have decided to continue screening the film, which was released last Friday and may even seek police protection if needed. The political party is irked over Rahul's name appearing in the probe against Headley, a terror suspect arrested by the USA for planning terror attacks in India.

"We have already lodged a complaint against workers of the political party for ransacking the theatre premises in Rajkot," said Ajay Bagdai, vice-president of
the Multiplex Owners' Association of Gujarat.

Considering the circumstances, multiplex owners in the city are also on their toes to guard against possible protest against screening of the film. "We have been intimidated by party workers to withdraw screening of the film. But we are not going to give in," said Neeraj Ahuja, manager of the Wide Angle cinema. "We have not informed the police about the development, but we will call the police if the situation calls for it," said Ahuja.

The movie is receiving lukewarm response in major cities in Gujarat. According to police, when the show was being screened at a multiplex theatre on Kalavad Road in Rajkot, MJP workers barged in and shouted slogans against Mahesh Bhatt. The workers also fired crackers inside the cinema hall, destroyed posters of the film and forced the audience to leave the theatre, police said.

Zadaphia confirmed that they have called for a ban against the movie .Local unit of MJP in Ahmedabad said in a statement that they will stage a protest at Apsara-Aradhana cinema, a single screen cinema in Kankaria, and will then proceed to other single and multiplex theatres across the city.
