Kuwait security crackdown

Large number of expatriates were arrested in an extensive security crackdown on illegal residents and law violators in Jleeb Al Shuwoukh today morning. The security crackdown was carried under the directives of His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister, led by the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior.

The security forces closed all areas, streets and roads in Jleeb Al Shuwoukh region from 3:30 early morning Wednesday to carry out the raid. The raid was to address illegal activities in the area which include use of liquor, drugs, brothel, lodging of illegal residents, doing international calls, and other crimes.

According to source, more than 3000 law violators were arrested during the raid, which include 1248 expats without valid documents, 305 for illegal accommodation, 63 people were arrested warrant exists, 123 for prostitution, 299 for absconding cases, 16 for drug related crime, 472 for expired residency permit, 23 for wanted criminal case. Authorities also closed down 5 factories for making liquor and 38 shops were sealed for lack of license.
