Urdu Domain Poll
We are thinking of getting a separate domain for all the Urdu-related stuff we are doing. This would include the following:
- Urdu blogs webring
- Our group weblog about Urdu blogging
- The aggregation of Urdu blogs at Urdu Planet
- Urdu Wiki
- Urdu forum
- Urdu freeware like Nabeel’s Urdu Webpad and UrduEditor.
Help us decide on a domain name by voting in the poll at Procrastination.

Sunny: While that is nice, it looks really odd and random in ASCII characters.

Well I think its the same case as with Blogs,
at start without enabling urdu, the blogs in urdu looked nice but weired in ascii
(if somebody have not enabled urdu)
But now its spreading like the mushrooms in rain.
My point is that firefox is now urdu enabled for domain names.
And Verisign’s i-Nav plugin enables Internet Explorer for urdu domain names.
So this would be a big thing in near future, why not take a step further before the domain name you want is gone?????
got my point?

Sunny: http://www.اردو.com is actually already gone!
I think IRIs are the future but they will take some time to become common. So at this time, I would prefer a plain ASCII domain name.

What about some other options, that still should be available?
the point is that u are right about an ASCII domain but by the time you will see that urdu domains are common all the good names will be gone.
I can not check the domain status at the moment but another good name might be
http://www.بلاگ.com/

Sunny: I think you have a point. While I would like an ASCII domain name, an Urdu IRI would be nice in addition to it.
