It seems someone had expressed an interest in developing Urdu support for "Aspell":http://aspell.sourceforge.net/man-html/Supported.html, but I couldn't find anything which was actually done in this regard. A good dictionary is also important. "University of Chicago":http://dsal.uchicago.edu/dictionaries/list.html#urdu has a good project going on there, but they don't have Urdu script yet.
